Go for a Hike

Hiking is a bit like life: The journey only requires you to put one foot in front of the other …again and again and again. And if you allow yourself the opportunity to be present throughout the entirety of the trek, you will witness beauty every step of the way, not just at the summit. - Unknown

One of my top self care tools is nature, and in today's blog, I specifically talk about going for a hike and getting lost in the natural world. There is something incredibly restorative and re-centering about being immersed within the energy of mother earth. Previously, we have touched upon the topic of nature within the blogs, A Walk and Step Outside; for this blog, there is more of a focus on intentionally taking time for yourself, seeking out a natural location, and going for a hike.

Whether you choose a desert, the mountains, a forest, the ocean, or the endless rolling fields near your home - let the natural world envelop you. As we discussed in the Mindfulness blog, when you move through your chosen environment, focus on being in the present moment...listen to the wind, and the birds…feel the shade of a tree or the light and warmth of the sun…see the diversity of your surroundings...the numerous flowers, plants, rocks, animals, birds, and trees…and Breathe in the fresh air…

Going for a hike takes you out of your normal everyday routine, and can bring about many blessings…a new experience, similar to what we discussed in the blog Be Curious, or possibly a new perspective of current events in your life…the gifts of a hike are endless…

Above all else enjoy the healing attributes of this experience, without a doubt, you will feel more restored and re-centered, and have intentionally made a moment of self care just for you! Enjoy!
